Young-Laplace Equation Calculator

Pressure Difference (ΔP): —

How to Use This Calculator

Enter the surface tension in N/m and the radius of the droplet or bubble in meters. The calculator will automatically compute the pressure difference across the interface using the Young-Laplace equation.

What is this Calculator Used For?

The Young-Laplace Equation describes the pressure difference between the inside and outside of a curved surface due to surface tension. It's widely used in chemistry, fluid mechanics, and biological membrane studies.

Formula

ΔP = 2γ / r

Where:
ΔP = Pressure difference (Pa)
γ = Surface tension (N/m)
r = Radius (m)

Example

If surface tension γ = 0.072 N/m and radius r = 0.0001 m, then:

ΔP = 2 × 0.072 / 0.0001 = 1.44 × 103 Pa
