Kp Calculator

Kp Calculator

Kp =

What is this calculator used for?

This Kp Calculator helps you convert the equilibrium constant in terms of concentration (Kc) to the equilibrium constant in terms of pressure (Kp), using the relationship between gas laws. It's especially useful in chemistry for analyzing gaseous equilibrium reactions.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the value of the equilibrium constant Kc.
  2. Enter the change in the number of moles of gas (Δn).
  3. Enter the temperature in Kelvin (K).
  4. The Kp value will be calculated automatically.

Formula used

Kp = Kc × (RT)Δn

Where:

  • R = 0.0821 L·atm/(mol·K) (gas constant)
  • T = Temperature in Kelvin
  • Δn = Change in moles of gas (moles of gaseous products - moles of gaseous reactants)

Example

Given:

  • Kc = 0.1
  • Δn = 1
  • T = 298 K

Then:

Kp = 0.1 × (0.0821 × 298)1 = 0.1 × 24.5 = 2.45
